Valterra Platinum is inviting applications for the Intern - Mineral Resource Management Learner Official Program at Amandelbult Complex in Thabazimbi, Limpopo.

This 24-month structured training programme is designed to develop competent Mining Technical Services officials through institutional and workplace-based training aligned with regulatory and operational requirements.

The programme is available in three Mineral Resource Management disciplines: Ventilation, Survey, and Rock Engineering. Successful candidates will gain practical mining exposure, complete assessments and logbooks, and participate in structured development activities within a professional mining environment.

There are 9 external candidate positions available for applicants from Amandelbult beneficiary communities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a structured 24-month training and development programme.
• Complete required logbooks and assessments.
• Gain practical exposure in relevant mining sections.
• Participate in institutional and workplace-based learning.
• Follow all safety standards and operational procedures.
• Undergo training and development initiatives in line with the programme.
• Develop technical understanding in one of the Mineral Resource Management disciplines.
• Work with teams in mining technical services.
• Demonstrate commitment to learning, safety, and professional conduct.
• Apply workplace instructions and training requirements responsibly.

Programme Disciplines

The programme includes opportunities in the following disciplines:

Ventilation

• Learn how ventilation systems are designed and maintained.
• Support activities that ensure adequate airflow to working areas.

Survey

• Learn how accurate measurements are conducted for underground and surface workings.
• Support activities that determine positions, distances, and levels.

Rock Engineering

• Learn how rock mass strength and behaviour are evaluated.
• Support activities related to excavation stability and support system recommendations.

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
• English, Mathematics, and Physical Science are compulsory.
• Minimum of 50% for Mathematics.
• Minimum of 50% for Physical Science.
• Minimum of 60% for English.
• Must be medically fit to work in a mining environment.
• Must have no criminal record.
• Must be currently unemployed.
• Must originate from recognised local communities for Amandelbult.
• Must provide proof of residence, such as a letter from a Traditional Authority or Municipality.
• Must be willing to complete the full 24-month structured training programme.
