About the Opportunity
The Department of Health is inviting applications for two Clinical Technologist / Echocardiographer posts.
These posts are based in the Cardiology Department at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. The successful candidates will perform echocardiograms, assist with cardiology procedures, participate in cardiac technology services and perform after-hours emergency call-out duties when required.

Salary
- Grade 1: R413 121 per annum
- Grade 2: R482 499 per annum
- Grade 3: R564 822 per annum

Responsibilities
- Perform all echocardiograms.
- Report independently on echo findings.
- Assist with procedures in the Echo Laboratory.
- Perform procedures in invasive and non-invasive laboratories on a rotational basis.
- Work in key areas including cardiac catheterisation theatres.
- Assist with pacing and electrophysiology procedures.
- Perform exercise stress testing.
- Perform holter monitoring.
- Assist with cardiac nuclear scans.
- Participate in all areas of cardiac technology services.
- Maintain accurate statistics.
- Participate in research.
- Perform after-hours emergency call-out duties, including weekends and public holidays, according to the duty roster.
- Perform other duties relevant to the work situation as allocated by the supervisor or Head of Department.
- Participate in departmental outreach and teaching programmes.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma / BTech Degree in Clinical Technology, Cardiology
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Clinical Technologist, Cardiology
- Registration with the HPCSA in Cardiology as an Independent Practitioner
Experience Requirements
Grade 1
- No experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist for RSA-qualified employees who performed Community Service as required in South Africa.
- One year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist for foreign-qualified employees who are not required to perform Community Service in South Africa.
Grade 2
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist for RSA-qualified employees who performed Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Minimum of 11 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist for foreign-qualified employees who are not required to perform Community Service in South Africa.
Grade 3
- Minimum of 20 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist for RSA-qualified employees who performed Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Minimum of 21 years relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist for foreign-qualified employees who are not required to perform Community Service in South Africa.
