Job Description
The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for Laundry Worker Level 2 positions at Cullinan Care and Rehabilitation Centre.
There are 3 posts available under the Administration Logistic and Support Directorate.
This opportunity is suitable for candidates with a Grade 10 - 11 school report, Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification who are willing to perform physical work, work in a team and work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
The successful candidates will assist with collecting, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, counting, packing and delivering linen and clothing across the facility.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 10 - 11 authentic school report, Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a team.
- Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles.
- Must be able to perform work of a physical nature.
- Must be prepared to rotate within the scope of work.
- Must be prepared to work shifts.
- Must be prepared to work weekends.
- Must be prepared to work public holidays.

Duties
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Collecting linen bags from different wards of the hospital.
- Delivering linen bags from different wards of the hospital.
- Operating laundry machines.
- Operating washing machines.
- Operating dryers.
- Operating pressers.
- Ironing laundered items.
- Folding laundered items.
- Counting laundered items.
- Packing laundered items.
- Sealing linen bags.
- Sealing clothes bags.
- Collecting linen and clothes from wards.
- Delivering linen and clothes to wards.
- Sorting dirty linen and clothes.
- Counting dirty linen and clothes.
- Recording dirty linen and clothes.
- Tying dirty linen bags.
- Labelling dirty linen bags.
- Mending torn linen.
- Participating in linen inventory counting.
- Cleaning linen trolleys.
- Ensuring linen delivery checklists are signed by wards.
- Assisting with other linen section duties when requested by supervisors.
- Executing instructions from supervisors and management.
- Demonstrating knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety principles.
- Demonstrating knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control principles.
- Performing other duties allocated by the supervisor.
- Participating in continuous training and development programmes.
- Attending meetings and training approved by the supervisor.
- Complying with the Performance Management and Development System.
- Participating in contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessment processes.
